Find a quality down pillow

When you think of the ultimate bed pillow, a fluffy down pillow probably comes to mind. However, with all people who suffer from allergies, a down pillow is a bad idea, right? In fact, many down pillows have been designed to be hypoallergenic.

Before buying a down pillow, be sure to look at the pillow information label. Some pillows are filled with a mixture of minced foam and feathers to reduce manufacturing costs. These pillows may be cheaper to buy, but they are not true. Other pillows are filled with artificial materials that simulate down instead of true feathers. Of course, even if you find a pillow containing real down, you still need to check the label. Make sure the feathers have been cleaned to remove allergens and dirt before use.

Once you have found a quality down pillow, you must take care of it properly. After all, these pillows are not cheap and you do not want to replace them anytime soon. To avoid staining your pillow, always use a pillowcase on it. Ideally, you should use a hypoallergenic zippered holster on the pillow, then cover this holster with a holster that matches your sheets. This prevents your pillow from becoming a haven for mites.

If your pillow gets wet, remove all the cases and put it in a sunny place to dry. Allowing your pillow to stay wet is a bad idea because it could actually develop mold or bacteria if it did not dry properly.

Although washing the pillows causes them to wear faster, it is sometimes necessary to wash them. Read the pillow label to make sure there are no special maintenance instructions. Some of these pillows should be dry cleaned if they are dirty. However, most down pillows should be washed in the washing machine in cold water with a mild detergent. Once you have washed the pillow, you should carefully wring out as much water as possible by hand. Then place your pillow in the dryer and set it to the most delicate setting. You can also add a tennis ball to the dryer. Believe it or not, this ball will prevent your pillow from turning into a bumpy mess.
